Glamorous Australian racing driver Renee Gracie has taken a bold swipe at Supercars, insisting the category is too boring and needs to do more to attract stars like herself.
Gracie, 30, now a prominent figure in GT racing, says Australia’s premier category is on the slide.
‘Other categories and Supercars itself, I think a lot of people have been feeling over the last few years is that it’s just kind of lost its spark,’ she told Wide World of Sports.
‘It’s not what it used to be, and GT is a serious threat to them, because it’s new and it’s exciting, and there’s a lot of action,’ Gracie told Wide World of Sports on Monday.
‘I mean, I think Supercars would probably need someone like me to make it half interesting.
‘GT [Racing], they don’t discriminate. They have people from all over the world. They want people to race.

The 30-year-old OnlyFans creator made the move into adult content in 2019
‘You know, there’s nothing stopping us from going over and racing the exact same GT Championship overseas. It’s the same car. It’s the same everything. It’s exciting. It’s new, it’s fresh.
‘There’s different cars. There’s a whole bunch of different drivers, and every single one of them is a character, and it’s super competitive, and it’s lots of fun.’
Gracie, a two-time Bathurst 1000 competitor, became Australia’s first full-time female Supercars driver in 2015 – but was shuffled out of the category two years later.
‘There are some categories that still are very old in their ways, and you can just sense that it’s not welcoming because there’s no women in the category,’ Gracie said.
‘And I think in a couple of years’ time, the amount of women that will be in the sport itself, in the certain categories and on track as well, it will be so obvious where they are welcome and where they are not welcome.’
Gracie’s comments come amid a five per cent dip in attendance for some of Supercars’ biggest races.
In contrast, F1 and other categories are booming and attracting lots of young fans.
Meanwhile, Gracie has renewed her controversial partnership with OnlyFans for a third year.

Gracie says Supercars needs someone like her to make the competition half interesting

Gracie believes the GT series has it all over Supercars due to its diversity, the many different makes of car on the track, and its global appeal
She decided to launch an OnlyFans account in 2019 after falling out of love with her racing career.
The Gold Coast star’s move into producing adult content was very controversial at the time, but immediately paid off with Gracie raking in millions of dollars.
Gracie then struck a deal with the company when she returned to racing in 2023.
‘I’ve got one of the biggest sponsors on the grid,’ Gracie told Wide World of Sports.
‘A part of being a racer is finding sponsorship and getting budget and I’ve done a very good job of that [by] getting quite a large sponsor like OnlyFans and having them [be part of the team] for the third year in a row.
‘There’s not a more prominent brand. I can guarantee you every single person [in pit lane] has heard of OnlyFans.
‘I’ve got one of the most dominant sponsors on the grid, and I think that’s something that I’m proud of, and people recognise that, and they understand that a bit of credibility comes now.
‘People know that it’s serious, [and] I’m finally over…[being a] bit cautious of what people thought in the beginning. Now that I’m three years in, I think people know that I’m here to race. I did my job.’
Gracie will next race on May 2-4 at Sydney Motorsport Park.
