Germany boss Hansi Flick admits he’s ‘not considered’ the chances of ANOTHER elimination in the World Cup group stage… and rallies for his side ‘to perform and deliver’ in their grudge match against Costa Rica
- Germany are teetering on the brink of elimination from the Qatar World Cup
- Hansi Flick’s side sit bottom of the group – with one draw and one loss so far
- The national coach has called for his side to ‘perform and deliver’ in final game
- The Germans will take on Costa Rica tomorrow night in last group stage match
Hansi Flick insisted on Wednesday he is not considering the possibility of Germany crashing out of the World Cup tonight but admitted it would be their own fault if they did.
Germany, who play Costa Rica in the Al Bayt Stadium, are on a poor run at major tournaments, having been beaten by England in the last 16 of Euro 2020 following their group-stage exit at the 2018 World Cup.
Asked how he would feel about Germany suffering another early elimination, manager Flick said: ‘I’m normally an optimist, I’m not considering anything like that for now.

The national side have just one point after two games – needing a win against Costa Rica
‘Maybe you can ask me the same question after the match. I hope you will not be forced to ask it.’
Flick’s side are bottom of Group E with one point from two games. They need to beat Costa Rica tonight, but even a win would not guarantee them a place in the last 16.
‘This is our own fault,’ Flick said. ‘We are in this situation and now we need to do what we can. We will give it 100 per cent. We need to perform and deliver.’
