England have been drawn in Group C of qualification for Euro 2024, alongside Italy, Ukraine, North Macedonia and Malta.

The Three Lions are drawn up against Italy, who notably beat England at Wembley 16 months ago to lift the Euro 2020 trophy, having sealed an agonisingly close penalty shoot-out victory.

The Azzurri are unbeaten against England since, drawing once and winning 1-0 in 2022 in the Nations League, with both teams once again drawn alongside one another.

But England are not the only home nation to be handed a difficult group.

HOME NATIONS GROUP DRAWS

GROUP A: Spain, SCOTLAND, Norway, Georgia, Cyprus

GROUP C: Italy, ENGLAND, Ukraine, North Macedonia, Malta

GROUP D:  Croatia, WALES, Armenia, Turkey, Latvia

GROUP H: Denmark, Finland, Slovenia, Kazakhstan, NORTHERN IRELAND, San Marino

Scotland have been drawn into group A, alongside two-time winners Spain, Erling Haaland’s Norway, Georgia – with Kvicha Kvaratskhelia ure to want to impress on the international stage, and Cyprus.

Wales will have a slightly easier time of Group D, with the likes of Armenia, Turkey and Latvia providing somewhat less troubling opposition.

However they will still have to contend with Luka Modric’s Croatia, who can be tricky customers.

Northern Ireland are in a group of six teams, and will need to banish the ghosts of Euro 2020 to make it to the tournament proper in Germany in two years’ time.

They were the only home nation not to reach the competition last time round, and will have to see off Denmark, Finland, Slovenia, Kazakhstan and San Marino.

The Republic of Ireland were also in action, with only Germany and Russia excluded from the draw, and they will arguably have the toughest draw of all to reach the finals.

Stephen Kenny’s Boys in Green will have to find a way to shoulder through European heavyweights France and Holland to have any chance of qualification.

The other two sides int heir group are the slightly less dangerous Greece and Gibraltar.
