Bathurst hopeful SLAMS rivals for ‘driving like LOSERS’ after major wreck ends his race after just six laps, while his teammate chokes back the tears after wreck leaves him ‘spewing’
Bathurst hopeful Dale Wood was left ‘spewing’ at a crash that ended his chances of winning The Great Race after six laps, while teammate Andre Heimgartner hit out at the ‘losers’ who caused the wreck.
Wood and Heimgartner came into the race at Mount Panorama as one of the pairs to watch but their day was over with just five of the 161 laps completed after Zane Goddard lost control of his Ford Mustang and went off the road at The Chase.
Goddard slid through the grass, before coming back across the road and into the path of Wood’s car, which careened into the No5 Tickford Racing car along with Matt Campbell in the No26 Grove Racing car.
Andre Heimgartner lashed out at his rivals who were driving ‘like losers’ after a serious crash wiped his teammate and co-driver Dale Wood out of the race after six laps
Wood’s car was briefly airborne as a result of the impact but he escaped without significant injuries.
All three cars, however, were wrecked in the crash and their race was over.
Wood was visibly emotional as he reviewed footage of the crash after returning to the pit-lane.
‘This whole build-up is about this one moment, about going racing,’ he told Fox Sports.

‘I felt like we had a very good opportunity with this team with the people I’m with, it’s all awesome.
‘And for it to be all over so soon, it’s gutting. This is what you wait all year for, it’s what you work towards all year. For it to be over so soon, I’m absolutely spewing.’
Heimgartner was even more blunt than his teammate, calling out some of their rivals for reckless driving.
Both cars were written off along with Matt Campbell’s No26 Grove Racing entry
A visibly emotional Wood struggled to choke back the tears once he returned to the pit lane
‘It’s like these guys don’t realise it’s 161 laps and they’re driving like absolute losers,’ the New Zealander said.
‘Hopefully they get their s*** together and we don’t have more safety cars and don’t ruin more cars because Tickford [Racing], us [Brad Jones Racing], put in so much effort and then for everyone to take everyone out like that, especially that last one was pretty wild.
‘I’d be pretty surprised if my car isn’t seriously damaged and will need to be rebuilt on the jig. It’s not what anyone needs and we’re only on lap bloody four.’
