Jarrod Bowen says it was a ‘dream come true’ to make his senior England debut and the West Ham star is hungry for more as he sets his sights on making Gareth Southgate’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar
West Ham star Jarrod Bowen is thinking ahead to the World Cup in Qatar after making his England debut last month.
The 25-year-old made his first senior appearance for the Three Lions in their 1-0 defeat away at Hungary last month, and went on to feature in all four of their Nations League games during the same international break.
There had long been calls for Bowen to receive his first international call-up going into the fixtures after a stunning season for West Ham.

Bowen, speaking to former Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster as part of Amazon Prime Day, said it was a ‘dream’ to represent the Three Lions for the first time.
He said: ‘Obviously it was good to get the England call up and I didn’t know if I would play, it was just an experience, then to play it’s like a dream come true.’
Bowen was one of the few bright sparks of a dismal international camp for England who failed to win any of their four games in June – which finished with a crushing 4-0 defeat at home against Hungary.

After finally representing his country at senior level for the first time, Bowen has been spending the off-season thinking about playing for his country at the World Cup in Qatar – which gets underway in November.
He said: ‘Playing for your country is always a special moment, to be at the World Cup we’ve got to see how this season goes, I’d love it’
‘I’d be lying to say if I hadn’t thought about playing in the World Cup during the off season.’
One player who is likely to start for England in Qatar is Bowen’s West Ham team-mate Declan Rice.

Bowen said: ‘Coming back off the Euros he’s (Rice) done it again, I feel that people understand Declan Rice finally. He’s played a massive part, he’s world class, he’s done it again this season and going from strength to strength.’
In the last Premier League season, Bowen scored 12 goals and created just as many assists, as the Hammers finished seventh in the standings.
He will be hoping to carry on his excellent form into the upcoming campaign, to guarantee his place on the plane as part of Gareth Southgate’s squad.
They face a tricky start to the season when they host reigning champions Manchester City at the London Stadium, on August 7.
