Bruno Fernandes has been embroiled in a furious row against Switzerland, seeming to shout ‘f*** you’ several times in their clash on Sunday.

The Manchester United star’s Portugal side lost their Nations League Group A2 match 1-0 in Geneva at the weekend in a feisty, ill-tempered clash.

Striker Haris Seferovic scored in the first minute, and although the visitors enjoyed 58 per cent possession and ended with eight shots on target to Switzerland’s two, they were unable to find the breakthrough.

And the match exploded late on when home defender Nico Elvedi went down easily under a challenge from striker Andre Silva.

With time ticking away and Switzerland keen to run down the clock in the final moments, Borussia Monchengladbach star Elvedi grabbed the ball in anticipation of the free kick, which the referee awarded.

Players of both sides appealed before piling towards the incident as things heated up, with Swiss boss Murat Yakin animated on the sideline.

TV cameras then cut to Red Devils attacking midfielder Fernandes, who was brought off for Matheus Nunes in the 74th minute.

The 27-year-old furiously stormed towards the opposition bench, being held back by a Portugal coach and blocked by a UEFA official.

He appeared to yell: ‘f*** you’ before pointing to someone and telling them where to go and adding another two ‘f*** you’ exclamations for good measure.

The result leaves the Iberian side second in their group, one point behind leaders Spain on eight.

Portugal are ahead of Czech Republic on four and Switzerland on three with two games remaining.

Fernando Santos’ side face the Czechs on September 24 and then rivals Spain on September 27 ahead of the Qatar World Cup in November and December this year.
