Manchester are monitoring Lyon striker Moussa Dembele as a possible transfer target as they look to revitalise their attack this summer.
The Old Trafford club look certain to make changes to their forward line at the end of the season, with Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard out of contract when the campaign concludes.
Sportsmail understands United were represented at Lyon’s Europa League clash at Porto on Wednesday night, where Dembele created the only goal for Lucas Paqueta.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford’s future is increasingly uncertain as he approaches the final year of his contract, while Cristiano Ronaldo and Anthony Martial are also contemplating exits. Mason Greenwood is on bail after his arrest on suspicion of rape, sexual assault and threats to kill.
Dembele has been on the radar of United since the 2015-16 season, which ended with his move to Celtic. The 25-year-old left the Scottish giants in 2018 to join Lyon and his current deal runs out in 2023, meaning Lyon risk losing him as a free agent if they cannot agree new terms before then. That means Dembele may be available for as little as £25million this summer if Lyon decide he is unlikely to extend his stay.
Lyon have already lost Memphis Depay on a free transfer and defender Jason Denayer looks set to do the same this summer. They would be desperate to avoid a similar fate with Dembele, who has nine goals in 19 Ligue 1 games this season, including five in his last seven.
Dembele has Champions League experience – he scored twice in Lyon’s shock win over Manchester City in the 2020 quarter-final – and knows the British game, having spent time with Fulham as well as Celtic.
Indeed, his stint at Fulham from 2013-16 means Dembele would qualify as a homegrown player were he to join an English club.
