German wonderkid Karim Adeyemi ‘has chosen Borussia Dortmund as his next destination but the Bundesliga club are far apart from Red Bull Salzburg’s £33.5m valuation’ for the striker

  • Wonderkid Karim Adeyemi has been in electric form for RB Salzburg this season
  • The 20-year-old has 14 goals in 17 league matches in the Austrian top-flight
  • Adeyemi has reportedly chosen Borussia Dortmund as his next destination
  • The German would follow Erling Haaland in swapping Salzburg for Dortmund
  • Salzburg reportedly want as much as £33.5million for their star asset this season

Karim Adeyemi has picked Borussia Dortmund as his next destination but the German club cannot agree a fee with the striker’s club RB Salzburg, according to reports.

The 20-year-old striker has been in excellent form in Austria this season, scoring 14 goals in 17 matches in the country’s top-flight, while he also scored three times to help Salzburg reach the Champions League knockouts for the first time ever.

German wonderkid Adeyemi has been strongly linked with a transfer to Signal Iduna Park and a move to Dortmund would allow the young forward to follow in the footsteps of Erling Haaland – who made the same switch at the start of 2020.

And according to Sky Germany, Adeyemi is already settled on a move to Dortmund but the two clubs are far apart on their valuation of the forward.

The report says Salzburg want as much as £33.5million for their star striker – who currently tops the goalscoring charts in the Austrian Bundesliga.

Haaland made the move from Salzburg to Dortmund for £20m two years ago and has since scored 80 goals in 79 appearances for the Ruhr-land club in that time.

But the Norwegian striker is expected to leave the German club at some point this year, as a £64m release clause in his contract is activated this summer.

Haaland has been linked to some of the top clubs in Europe, including Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona – but his future his far from decided.

Earlier this month, the 21-year-old complained that Dortmund were pressuring him into making a decision, which was distracting him from his football.

‘The last six months I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for Borussia Dortmund,’ Haaland told Norwegian broadcaster Viasat this month. ‘But now the club has started pressing me into making a decision.

‘All I want to do is to play football, but they (Dortmund) are pressing me to make a decision now about my future. So that means I have to make a decision soon.’

However, Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has responded to Haaland’s comments by insisting Dortmund are yet to open talks with the player, leaving them confused by his recent claim.

‘Erling’s statements surprised us a bit,’ the Dortmund chief told Kicker. ‘There is currently no deadline, no deadlines, and there have not even been any discussions.

‘But that we want and have to have talks at some point is clear, understandable and only professional.’
