Zinedine Zidane ‘tells Real Madrid squad that he WILL leave this summer’ as Los Blancos coach prepares to wave goodbye to the Bernabeu for a second time even if they win LaLiga

  • The Frenchman, 48, is expected to depart from the club at the end of the season
  • According to reports, Zidane informed his players of his decision last Sunday
  • Zidane’s availability will alert Juventus who are keen on their former star

Zinedine Zidane reportedly told his Real Madrid players that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season following their draw with Sevilla last Sunday.

As Sportsmail revealed this week, the Frenchman will walk away from the club at the end of the campaign even if they win the LaLiga title amid a tussle with Atletico Madrid and Barcelona for the Spanish crown.

Zidane has sensed for some time that he no longer has the backing of Madrid’s president Florentino Perez, although he has the full support of the dressing room.

And according to Goal, the 48-year-old broke the news of his impending departure following their 2-2 draw with Julen Lopetegui’s Sevilla in Madrid last Sunday.

Madrid’s squad sensed that Zidane would not stay on in the Los Blancos hot seat following their Champions League exit to Chelsea this month.

Alongside his discrepancies with Perez, physical and mental fatigue are also believed to be factors for his stepping down as coach at Madrid.

This will be the second time that Zidane has stepped away from the Madrid job, having left the post in the summer of 2018 after clinching a third-successive Champions League triumph.

He was drafted back in under emergency circumstances in the 2018-19 campaign after Lopetegui and Santiago Solari failed to step up to the plate.

Zidane’s expected exit from Madrid will alert former club Juventus as well as the French national team, who are admirers of the 48-year-old’s work.

The Italian giants are reportedly losing patience with Andrea Pirlo after a poor season in Turin in which they have let slip their Serie A crown and are under pressure to seal Champions League qualification for next season.

Zidane’s availability may also be of interest to France, although Didier Deschamps has done an excellent job in guiding the national side to the World Cup in 2018, while they remain strong contenders to win the Euros this summer.

Madrid legend Raul, who has impressed with Madrid’s youth team, is tipped to succeed Zidane in the Bernabeu dugout, while Max Allegri is also believed to be a frontrunner for the gig.
