Luka Modric has responded to the speculation surrounding Kylian Mbappe’s future by saying that ‘great players are always welcome at Real Madrid.’
The France striker, 22, has been linked with a move away from Paris Saint-Germain this summer having not yet signed a contract extension, with Real a likely destination.
Mbappe is out of contract in the summer of 2022 and PSG would therefore need to sell him in the upcoming window to ensure they get the highest possible transfer fee.

Real’s pursuit of the prolific striker has received midfielder Luka Modric’s seal of approval
And Real’s Croatian midfielder Modric has made it clear Mbappe would be most welcome at the Santiago Bernabeu.
‘You hear a lot of stories about the players who’ll be coming in and who’ll be leaving, but I can’t go into that,’ Modric said ahead of Real’s Champions League quarter-final, second leg against Liverpool.
‘Mbappe is a great player and he’s proved that with his national team and PSG. Great players are always welcome at Real Madrid, but it wouldn’t be right of me to speak about players at other clubs, particularly at this stage of the season.
‘We’ll have to see what happens next season, but he’s a top player and is amongst the best in the world.’
Mbappe has enjoyed another prolific season, scoring 33 goals and adding 10 assists

It remains to be seen whether Modric, 35, gets the opportunity to play alongside Mbappe if he joins the club.
He has only two months remaining on his current contract but said that ‘my renewal is going well’.
Modric added: ‘I have always said that I want to continue, that I feel very happy here and I hope to continue next year.’
Real are in a strong position heading to Anfield for Wednesday night’s game after a 3-1 win in last week’s first leg. Chelsea await the victor in the semi-finals.
Mbappe and PSG will also be there after they eliminated the reigning champions Bayern Munich on away goals following a 3-3 aggregate result in their quarter-final.
He has scored 33 goals and contributed 10 assists in another outstanding season for PSG.
